Just like the case of of Goodness Shekwobyalo Thomas, another student, Firdaouz Yusuff-Awari, a native of Kwara, has been denied admission into higher institution in the country even after scoring 300 in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Yusuff-Awari had filled Common as her proposed course of study in University of Ilorin as her first choice but failed to secure admission into the school having scored 76% in post-UTME.

Premium Times reports that the female student emerged with seven distinctions and two credits but was unable to upload her Mathematics result because it was withheld by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) when she needed it.

Speaking on the situation, Yusuff-Awari’s father said: “The WASSCE result was released on July 25 and the Mathematics was later released on August 31.

“We uploaded the (full) result on JAMB portal and they sent us a copy that they’ve received it. When we tried sending it to University of Ilorin, their portal was closed.”

He added that his daughter’s scores for the said course in the school, 300 and 76% beat the stipulated cut-off marks which were 260 and 50% respectively.

Yusuff-Awari’s father said that on getting to the school to make enquires concerning her daughter’s plight, he was told by the authority thatthe number of candidates who uploaded their results on the portal was too many and as such more than the institution can cater for.
