NO PASSENGER WAS KILLED IN LAGOS-ORE KIDNAP INCIDENT- POLICE
The Ondo State Police Command has described as untrue, reports trending on the social media that some Fulani herdsmen attacked and killed some passengers travelling along the Lagos/Ore road.
The social media was flooded with the report on Wednesday, causing unnecessary panic in the state
Spokesman of the command, Femi Joseph, in a statement urged members of the public to disregard the story adding that those who carried out the attack did not kill any passenger.
” To set the records straight, some passengers in a commercial bus travelling from Lagos to IMO state were intercepted at Oke Ila Area along Lagos-Ore expresse way. The hoodlums who did not succeed in their efforts to rob the passengers owing to quick intervention of the command, kidnapped some of the commuters.”
He said the command however rescued four of the victims while efforts are being intensified to rescue the remaining victims.
“Information from the rescued victims indicated that the hoodlums were from chad and Niger. It must be added that no one was maimed, killed of as was reportedly killed by the hoodlums.”
He described the social media reports as false and malicious to deceive members of the public and ‘whip up sentiments by some disgruntled and lawless members of society’.
